My R & R

The last few months I have been working hard at crossing off a couple items from the right side of my blog; the life list part to be exact. I was finally able to complete my Level 1 and Level 2 Reiki classes. I have been reading for fun and actually learning as well. I have read 4 books so far which is a good start to my 12 books a year goal. I have also been reading the Bible starting from the beginning. I am currently in Numbers, which I find a tad uninteresting but I am sure it’s about to get wildly entertaining or at least that is my hope. So as I peak my head up I see that it’s March already and I feel like all my free time is spent with my two R’s right now. Reading and Reiki.

I have had a long love affair with reading since I was a kid. Having my nose buried in some book in a pretend land far away from reality was one of my favorite past times. Between being a mom and reading all the parenting books, being a wife, and all the tasks those two things involve I forgot my love for reading. (I really hope Chloe gets this from me) I have a list on my phone of books I want to read I just don’t have enough time. The list keeps getting longer and my free time is increasingly shorter. That’s why this year I am making it a point to bring this joy back into my life even if it’s only for 20 minutes a day.

Now on to my other new love, which is Reiki. I love what a mind-blowing experience it has been. To feel energy radiating from your hands! A healing energy! How amazing is that? I read about it first of course, and even though I have had it done to me personally I was a touch skeptical about my ability to administer it to others. For those who don’t know what Reiki is it’s a Japanese technique that is for relaxation and stress reduction that also promotes healing. That is it’s a more formal definition but for me I could feel my hands tingle, I could feel heat radiating from them, and in class I could see the energy moving as my teacher ran her hands down another one of my classmates. So amazing! I know I am in the beginning learning phases of what this can potentially become and it’s truly an exciting spiritual time. Below is a picture from my class.

I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me!
