Yule Tide Valium

It was Christmas Day as I headed over to my friends house to return something that she needed for that days events. When I got there I found her husband, kids, and many family members cooking their hearts out in the kitchen but she was nowhere to be found. That was puzzling! I asked her husband and he said he didn’t know where she was but he did mention that she had thrown her back out. Interesting, so I walk back to her room and this is what I find…

Her: OMG I am so messed up. I threw my back out and I am hiding in here. Is that bad?

Me: Oh no! What happened?

Her: Uh I was dancing with my dad last night I think I pulled something anyway I am trashed!

Me: (trying not laugh) What?

Her: Yeah my husband gave me some valium and a captain and coke because I couldn’t get out of bed my back hurt so bad and now I am wasted. How the heck am I suppose to go out there and be with those people? Can you tell?

Me: Well for starters I would zip your pants.

Her: (she looks down & pulls her shirt up) Guess that means I should button them too? See I can’t go out there! Can I come home with you? Pleasssee. See I burnt my head trying to curl my hair. (Showing me a burnt mark on her forehead) I cannot go out there!!!

Me: I would love to stay and see how this goes down but I really got to get back to my house. It’s Christmas Day you know. So please try and have a Merry Christmas.

Her: Are you sure I can’t come. I love you. Pleasssse.

Me: I love you too but no you need to stay and enjoy your family. Just no more alcohol okay?

Her: Okay no more alcohols.. well maybe just one more sip.(I smile because I know her too well)

I give her a hug and leave. That would have been worth ditching my family to watch but since my family had flown in from out of state I figured I better not. Knowing her she will turn it into a fun, cute, giggly little day or end up on the floor. Either way it will be a Christmas I am sure she won’t forget for a while.
