Swinging Around

When I am out exploring this town on my walks I have begun to notice the swings that are scattered everywhere. They are hanging from many of these big tree’s that line the streets to being hooked to front porches.

I look at any swing and even if just for a minute it reminds me of being a carefree little person. When you are at the playground and pumping your legs as fast as you can with a hand in the air trying to reach the clouds. Did you remember those times? Do you remember doing underdogs with your friends? I do! The danger, the thrill of almost being knocked out cold! (Kids truly have no fear. I miss that feeling some times.) For those of you who don’t know what underdogs are they are when you are pushing your friend on the swing higher and higher until you think they are high enough to run underneath them.  Most of the time it can be pulled off without injury but occasionally there is a smack on the head!

Even now as I get older I notice how drawn to swings I still am. I feel like swings will always be a part of my life. I picture my husband and I later in life sitting on our porch in a large wooden swing watching our grandchildren run around and play in the yard as we swing.

If anything these beautiful swings scattered throughout this adorable town remind me to slow down, to sit, and smile. In my opinion, life is always a touch happier on a swing!
