Seriously, Only in California

This afternoon as my daughter and I head to the park to play I have an interesting observation. Walking past a Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Range Rover, and a few Prius’s I said to myself, “Toto were not in Kansas anymore” (or small town Colorado for that matter). There was not a single truck or Mini Van in sight! Once we got there another curious thing happened I looked down at my daughter only to see she was standing in the middle of the sand with her mouth open just staring at everyone not moving an inch. I notice this because I am doing the exact same thing. As I look around I can’t actually understand how all these little curtain climbers fit in this tiny little park. It was like recess on crack at Disney Land with Santa there! Talk about sensory overload!

After playing a bit and being completely exhausted by small screaming children everywhere we decide to go on a short walk just down the hill to the dog park. The dog park overlooks the ocean and has the best bench to just sit and let your thoughts be still. Only as I am trying that my daughter takes off and smacks right into a strange lady who looks at me and says, “I think I scared your daughter. She reached for me and then realized quickly I am not her Mom.” I say to Hillary Swank (no joke) trying to act like I see celebrities all the time and it aint no thang, “Well, she probably will wish you were her Mom as I take her away from all her fun.” She laughs and I smile, turn around and mouth to freaking nobody Oh MY God!! Why is nobody ever with me when this stuff happens? Crazy, awesome, weird day! Only in California!
