One thing this New Year has me doing is reflecting on the friendships I have had in my life. Everything seems to change year-to-year and season-to-season. People who I was inseparable with years ago now I don’t even talk to anymore. Not due to any arguments just life, jobs, babies, etc. tend to change things as time goes by. I have one dear friend from when I was 5 years old but other than that my “old school” friends are still there and I know I could call them for anything I just don’t ever hear or speak to them but maybe once a year. Life gets busy, time passes by and you say, “Wow has it really been two years since I have seen so and so?” For some reason I always fought really hard to keep everyone close to me really involved but after the last year I have given up. The effort seems lost on many. There is no ill will or discontent just people change, move, and grow in different direction. Since it’s never been easy for me to let people into my life it’s hard to let them go. However, I have learned that clearing space or no longer hanging on to the old allows space for the new in your life. So here’s to new friends, and new experiences in 2012!

Honest post. I've found some relationships you have are for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. It's hard when old friendship fade but maybe it's to stretch you to find friends who also share this season in your life. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI like your life list. Hope you get to live your dreams.

This is so true, but I have also found that you can always reconnect with good, old friends and it often feels like you never left them. Am a new follower (returning your follow). I look forward to more visits.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to stop by and say hi! I'm your newest follower from the Weekend Gathering Hop. :)
I can relate, sometimes you have to let go and it's all for the best. :)
Thanks for dropping by and leaving such a nice comment about my blog. People come into your life for a reason, some stay, some stay awhile, some go, some go and comeback again: they all bring life learning gifts of some sort which help us on our journey of life. xxx
